Built in 1893, The Breakers is essentially the most iconic of all the Newport mansions. It was in-built 1893 as a summer season residence for the Vanderbilt household, considered one of America’s wealthiest and most powerful households. Today, The Breakers is a museum that’s run by the Newport Preservation Society.
